Business Process

Business Process is the method which is used to collect, enter, share, evaluate and report data that is collected from customers.  Business Process and Data Management often overlap in function based on how an organization operates.  Custom software applications typically have high user acceptance because there are minimum steps involved in learning the new software, because the current business process is followed.

The goal in the design of custom software is to allow our customer to operate exactly the way they have been operating.  Forms for data entry can be customized to look exactly like current paper forms.  The staff does not have a difficult time becoming accustomed to a new form structure that they would be forced to use with an "off-the-shelf" solution, therefore user acceptance is high.

User interface issues are always important; to minimize the number of clicks required to perform day-to-day operations.  Large, off-the-shelf applications typically have much more functionality than a custom product, and sometimes finding the functions that you need are more difficult because of this fact.

  Business Process Examples

Organization has 3 sites between which data must be shared.  Software customization takes into account data flow between sites by importing / exporting data files that are shared through email.

Services need to be itemized on an invoice for one customer but not for another.  Custom application can have different report options available for invoices.
